On March 25, 2026, during MCE – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2026, Swegon received the official plaque confirming the nomination of the new LAMBDA Zero (CO₂) unit at the MCE Excellence Awards 2026.
LAMBDA Zero is a rooftop air-to-air unit (20–70 kW), available in cooling-only or heat pump versions, using R744 (CO₂), a natural refrigerant with a GWP of 1 and no flammability, in line with the Regulation (EU) 573/2024. Its advanced transcritical refrigeration circuit design, combined with machine learning-based control algorithms, ensures high seasonal efficiency and reliable performance across a wide operating range, contributing to reduced energy consumption and carbon footprint.
The unit showcased at the exhibition was a fully functional prototype, tested for several months to validate performance and reliability. Commercialization is planned for the end of 2026, with the official market launch coming soon.
During the event, Swegon also ran a dedicated marketing campaign to promote CO₂ as the natural refrigerant of the future, aligned with BlueBox's Mission Zero Emission strategy. Among the most appreciated initiatives were branded water cans featuring CO₂ (carbon dioxide), supported by engaging gamification activities that attracted strong interest from visitors.
The nomination at the MCE Excellence Awards represents a significant recognition of Swegon’s commitment to developing sustainable, efficient, and forward-looking HVAC solutions.
